Could this be the time for Renewable Power Production?

Investors play a key role in bringing new technologies to life. In this video, you’ll hear from Portfolio Manager Martin Wildy, CFA, on why we believe now is the time for Renewable Power Production.

This is a chart from Bloomberg New Energy Finance just showing how the IEA, the International Energy Agency, has been continually underestimating the growth of solar and wind globally. You can see, year after year, they've had to continue to shift their estimates upwards, and Bloomberg New Energy Finance believes that they're still way too conservative, and I share that view too.

So if we think about what global capacity for electricity generation could look like in 2040, we see that coal and natural gas have become a less important share. They're still a part of total pie, but a smaller part, most notably coal. Whereas things like wind, and especially solar, have grown very significantly.

So to get to the levels of wind and solar power production that we think are possible, will require a lot of investment by the capital markets. As investors, that's where we can help play a role and as investors, that's where you can help join us as we support companies that are engaged in producing power in cleaner ways that have fewer health effects, fewer economic consequences and help to make the world a better place.
